According to studies, the breasts could increase a full cup size or two during pregnancy and nursing periods so it would need the right support for the convenience of the pregnant woman. They could consider a range of bra varieties like resting and lounging bra to daytime bra. A hands-free nursing and pumping bra will be ideal for those mothers who intend on pumping their breast for more support.
Pregnant women who decide to buy nursing bras between their second and third trimester should have one that is not too tight around the band. Get one that could accommodate the breast on the last hook on the last month of pregnancy. There are likewise bra extenders that enable the woman to expand strap by several band sizes. Other features to look at are four hook and eye fastenings to add comfort, wide, non-slip shoulder straps, broad side and back, deep center at the front, and cups that unclasp easily.

There are many different designs for nursing bras such as cross over pull down style, cups that can be unhook from each side, or bras that snap and clip.Read More
Hospitals are places where people are admitted to get treatment for a variety of diseases or to get immediate attention in the event that injuries are incurred. In addition to patients, interns, nurses and doctors, customary hospital visitors like medical representatives, administrative staff and other guests. For this reason, hospitals need to maintain a sanitary environment as well as hygienic practices to everyone that stays inside it.
Among of the busiest people inside hospitals are the nurses. They do rounds and check each patient’s vitals – monitor them and make sure they take their medicines on scheduled time, check their blood pressure, temperature and other patient health details and information that the doctors should know. With all these duties and responsibilities, it is imperative for nurses to keep clean. This is not only to avoid tampering the specimens collected from the patients but also to avoid the spread of infectious bacteria as they go from patient to patient. One way of avoiding that is by always carrying water sprays and hand sanitizers while on duty. Antibacterial spray units should also be readily available for them in the hospital so that they will not find it too troublesome to look for these supplies whenever they need it.
There are things that nurses should also remember when carrying antibacterial sprays during hospital duty hours:
When nurses are responsible for the health of the patients, they are also responsible to their own health so carrying and constantly using antibacterial and cleaning sprays will also safeguard their health from disease causing agents that may render them sick.
Nurses should always remember to fill their antibacterial spray units or hand sanitizer containers on a regular routine, so as to avoid running out on these protective sprays. If you are a nurse, remember to fill those containers before starting your shift to observe proper hygiene and to avoid running out of it at the middle of your shift. This is advantageous for nurses handling several cases of illnesses, so that can sanitize their hands and tools immediately after every use. This will also keep them from wasting time in constantly looking for hand sanitizers or sprays, which may distract them from their duties.
Bear in mind that the hospital is a public place so different people can be seen there. This means that there are also different kinds of dirt and bacteria present in the place. These dirt and bacteria are normally being transferred by hands or mouth, and through air. Protective gears like mask and gloves should also be worn and kept clean always. This will benefit both the nurses and patients, as they don’t have to worry about keeping everything clean and sanitized, and focus more on patient care and recovery.
Lastly, remember that as a healthcare provider and worker, cleanliness and hygiene must come first when you are a nurse. This is not only to keep oneself disease-free, but to prevent unwanted spread of infectious elements, which may impede the recovery of the patients you take care of.Read More
Nurses’ work is not easy, especially in a hospital setting, where they must deal with intense intellectual and significant physical demands over three or more grueling 12-hour shifts each week. In a survey, they ranked among the worst occupation in terms of work-related injuries and studies have shown that nearly half of the nurses will have struggled with lower back pain in a given year. They work in an increasingly stressful work environment and the nurse-to-patient staffing ratios are not always standardized.
As a nurse their presence at work is how they make a living and that’s why their health must be of priority. One way of taking this stress and back pains out of them is to enjoy a hot stone massage. Hot stone massage is a natural therapy in which warmed stones are positioned on parts of the body to maximize the therapeutic benefit. The stones used are typically river rocks or other smooth surfaced stones made of basalt. These stones are heated in sanitizing water before they are use. Hot stone massages are beneficial on both physical and psychological levels however it is not recommended for individuals with certain conditions, including pregnant women and people with high blood pressure. Here are some of the benefits of hot stone massages:
Pain Relief. It provides greater pain relief due to the intense nature of the massage. Hot stones allow the massage therapist to penetrate deeper, leaving you physically better than a Swedish or deep-tissue massage that does not incorporate heat. It is important to note though that pain or discomfort during the massage process can cause more harm than good after the session so make sure to let your therapist know if you feel the heat from the stone is too much.
Muscle Relaxation. The high iron content in basalt helps the stones retain heat during the massage and the heat helps your muscle relax, giving the therapist a better chance to manipulate your deep tissue more effectively. Tense muscles can hinder the massage procedure but the heated stones may provide the extra relaxation you need for the massage to be beneficial in releasing the tension and ease the sore muscles you are experiencing.
Mental Benefits. Hot stone massage also helps ease some of your mental stress and tension. It may also helps in combating some of the symptoms of anxiety disorders and depression. It is not a substitute to traditional medical or psychiatric care but it can be an integral part of a mental treatment plan.Read More

A not so common sight
A couple of years ago, I was assigned to the emergency room for close to 6 months. Back then, I saw every wound, injury, or malady that you could possibly think of. Coincidentally, this was the time when MMA, or mixed martial arts, was at its peak. At least two or three people with martial arts related injuries were rushed to the emergency room on a daily basis. Most of them were minor, and a few were a bit serious.
The age group
Even to this day, the hospital still gets a few people rushed to the emergency room for martial arts Brisbane training injuries. What surprised me the most was the consistent age group of victims of so-called ‘martial arts’ injuries. During my stint as an emergency room nurse, people between the ages of 16 to 25 were always being admitted for martial arts injuries. People aged between 26 and 40 were also admitted for injuries, but some of them already had pre-existing medical conditions like scoliosis and rheumatoid arthritis.
